Update: I posted this link on Command Post and got this good response from Mike at Armchair Analyst: “Does this newsweek article give us a little too much info. Are we to assume that the man on the inside is no longer on the inside (or alive.) Otherwise we wouldn’t leak the story…right?” Good point.
Update: Reader R. Mumaw observes, “Or maybe we didn’t have anyone ‘inside,’ but want to foster suspicion and distrust in the Iraqi command structure.” Also quite possible.
