Barber Shop Argument Over Sandy Hook Shooting Leads To Gun Violence
Things seem to be a little tense here in the good old USA at the moment:
WENTZVILLE, Mo. (AP) – A Wentzville man is jailed after allegedly becoming agitated during a barber shop discussion of the Newtown, Conn., shooting and allegedly shooting in the direction of a patron.
Assault, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a weapon charges were filed against 57-year-old Lester Davis of Wentzville following the shooting Tuesday at All Cuts Barber Shop in Wentzville.
A patron made the comment that the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School made him want to kill the suspect. For unknown reasons, police say Davis took the comment as a threat and asked, “You want to murder me?”
Davis then allegedly went to his car, retrieved a pistol and fired three times in the customer’s direction. No one was hurt.
Dudes, it’s Christmas time. How about a little tidings of comfort and joy?
Happiness is a warm gun (bang bang shoot shoot )
Having spent some time now listening to gun advocates I know the solutions:
1) Arm all barbers.
2) Outlaw video games.
3) Banana.
Some explanations for Sandy Hook is that the shooter “snapped” (whatever that means) even though his actions demonstrate some planning.
Now in this instance did citizen Davis “snap”? Or do his actions demonstrate some premeditation?
When he left the barbershop to get his gun was he thinking about shooting the customer or was he expecting to defend himself?
I am also curious since he was charged with unlawful possesion of a weapon, if he is convicted, what punishment will he receive if he is found with a gun again?
Clearly, everyone should get their hair cut at home..
Dear whackjobs: only people in Connecticut get to be so worked up over these shootings. Thanks, and **** you.
@michael reynolds:
…but ban them from running with scissors.
@michael reynolds:
…because if you said ‘squirrel’ someone would be taking a shot at it.
But this is not possible. I have been assured over and over again that all gun owners are saints who would never discharge their weapons except when attacked by a deranged murderer or a flock of pigs.
Well gosh, don’t you know how out of hand this could have gotten, if Mr. Davis had not fired a few shots to restore order?
Oh, and how about that fine fellow down in Florida who shot someone at a Little Caesars and is now arguing “Stand Your Ground”?
Arm the kindergarten teachers…Arm the Barbers…Let’s not forget to have doctors and nurses pack the heat too!

@michael reynolds: You’ve had some doozies, but I nominate that as your best.

We might look back on this month and call it “Bloody December” at this rate.
@James H: OWWW!
@James H: god, that was horrible. Thank you.
Greetings:
Your research failed to reveal the more interesting aspects of the shooter’s criminal convictions. I assume that that will be forthcoming in a “Part 2” or so.
Be that as it may, this anecdote reminded me a bit of a TV news report I saw back before the re-election. The reporter was interviewing a convicted murderer who was campaigning to have his, and those of his fellow felons, right to vote re-instated. The interviewée had done his time, found his god, straightened out his life, and become a revered and sympathetic looking reverend. The reporter, however, failed to connect what seemed to me the most obvious of dots; that the reverend had in fact permanently cancelled the voting rights of the person he murdered. I guess that that was just not all that apropos to the purpose of the report. Probably one of those “all animals are equal; some animals are more equal” edits.
