Jack Kevorkian Paroled
Dr. Jack Kevorkian, a/k/a “Dr. Death,” will be released from a Michigan prison next Friday after serving spent eight years for his most recent assisted suicide. ABC News reports that the 79-year-old “suffers from hepatitis C, which he contracted while serving in Vietnam.” He has promised not to kill anyone else.
I’m quite leery of assisted suicide being openly available but lean toward decriminalization. Kevorkian was a special case, though, because he so openly flouted the law for publicity. He admits that he helped kill “more than 100” people and, toward the end of that spree at least, he abandoned pretense of being a medical professional, assisting in the deaths of people whose conditions were much less gave than he was led to believe.
If it weren’t for the fact that the good doctor was in prison, I’d be inclined to think that he had something to do with the 2004 Congressional elections and and the death of America as we know it.
Or led us to believe.
As a former nurse whohas watched all the suffering and death my heart could stand, I am sorry for your imprisonment, thrilled for your release and truly believe in everything you stand for! I have always believed in the right to die. There is nothing worse than having to care for someone terminally ill and begging you to let them die!!! These people calling you a murderer are either heartless or have never watched their loved ones go through this. God Bless you, Dr.
