His most recent book is the co-authored A Different Democracy: American Government in a 31-Country Perspective. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Texas and his BA from the University of California, Irvine. He has been blogging since 2003 (originally at the now defunct Poliblog).     I like it. I’ll have to go out next spring and take a similar picture from one of the wildfire burns here. If they’re letting anyone into the burn scars, which are always a bit dangerous. Not only falling trees, but nasty hidden holes to step in where things smoldered for a couple of months burning away a bunch of large roots.
