Via CNN: Trump taps Ben Carson for HUD secretary
Dr. Ben Carson will be nominated as the next secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Trump transition team announced Monday.
“I am thrilled to nominate Dr. Ben Carson as our next Secretary of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development,” President-elect Donald Trump said in a statement.
I am at a loss as to what Carson’s qualifications are for this particular position (indeed, so much for this statement from Carson adviser, Armstrong Williams: ”Dr. Carson feels he has no government experience, he’s never run a federal agency. The last thing he would want to do was take a position that could cripple the presidency.”)
My guess is that a) Carson is a known quantity to Trump, b) he has been loyal to Trump, and c) he is an African-American who grew up in poverty. So to Trump appointing him likely equates to “outreach” to African-Americans. I cannot come up with other reasons save, of course, that experience and expertise really aren’t part of Trump’s cabinet selection process.

Trump’s infrastructure plan is mostly going to be construction of grain storage pyramids.
Trump and his merry band of deplorables should be ashamed of this joke appointment, but, of course, that assumes that they are capable of feeling shame…
