Van Morrison and John Lee Hooker Gloria Video

Musical legends Van Morrison and John Lee Hooker have collaborated on the old R&B classic “Gloria.” Here’s the video:

I think the Jimi Hendrix version is my favorite. What’s yours?

Hat tips: Dean Esmay and Michael Demmons

Update: A commenter points out that Hooker is dead. That was my recollection as well (he died June 21, 2001) but I often think celebrities are dead that aren’t. At any rate, this duet is apparently from their 1997 collaborative album “Don’t Look Back.”

John Lee Hooker’s been dead for 5 years. I don’t think he collaborated on anything lately.

    ICallem,

So it is older video, it still was a great diversion from work this morning. As I was watching it though, I thought I had heard that Hooker had moved on. BTW, according to Wikipedia, this vid was shot in 1993.

    JJ,

I’ve got both Van Morrison and Hooker in my CD collection. I am still partial to the original version (Them, 1966 or 1968). I can’t recall the Doors’ version and don’t have many surviving Doors albums left, but I am sure that one is probably pretty good also.

Wow, I just love Van Morrison! How old is he? Does he still tour? One of the things I want in life is to see that great man sing live. He sings so full of PASSION!

    R&B classic Gloria.

R&B???? Most people categorize Morrison and Them as a British Invasion band. There weren’t many Irish R&B bands!
