It seems to me that the combo of the Al Green factor + name order on the ballot + relatively low turnout + the fact that Rawls had awful name recognition as well = a pretty reasonable explanation for how Greene won.
The notion that he was a plant has always struck me as a absurd, as if was that easy to manipulate the opposing party’s primary, it would be happening all the time.
Not to mention the fact that, if you’re going to put a plant in a primary, you’re probably going to pick someone just a little more intelligent/well-spoken than this guy
