LTC Lanier Ward

Back in May, I told you about my old USMA companymate Major Lanier Ward, who was badly wounded in Iraq last year.

Thankfully, Lanier has mostly recovered from his injuries and is back serving as a Cav officer. In fact, I’m off to Fort McNair for his promotion ceremony to see him swap his gold oak leafs for the silver ones of a lieutenant colonel.

Damn, I’m feeling old.

Update (12/2): The promotion ceremony was very nice, with a long tribute to Lanier from COL Wolfe, who was Lanier’s boss at several points over the last few years, including in Iraq. It was good to see Lanier again, along with another former companymate, Kevin Reeves.
