O’Reilly: Only People Who Want Peace Can Secure Peace

I’ve been hearing about Bill O’Reilly’s “Talking Points Memo” from last night’s show all over the place today, so I decided to check it out.

Now I see why. O’Reilly perfectly summarizes why a cease-fire is a raw deal for the Israelis in terms that the average American can understand. That is, minus the disertation on the history of Middle East conflicts. There’s no question that this is O’Reilly at his best:

Transcript below the fold.

Should there be a cease-fire in the Middle East? The pope wants one. French President Chirac wants one. The Lebanese prime minister, the Russians, they all want Israel and Hezbollah to stop fighting.

So let’s examine this in a fair and balanced way.

We now know that Hezbollah had about 13,000 missiles in southern Lebanon in violation of a United Nations order. We know that because Hezbollah attacked Israel, killing eight of its soldiers and kidnapping two others. This attack was unprovoked. After Israel responded, Hezbollah opened up with its missiles.

In order to make the situation clear, we have to make it personal. You and your family are living in Haifa. The kids go to school. You go to work. You have you a house. You have a normal life.

But just to the north, there’s a terror group that has thousands of missiles aimed at your town. Those missiles can be launched at any time for any reason. Do you want your government to stop fighting and allow those missiles to stay in place?

Let’s bring it to America. Some Mexican soldiers cross the border tomorrow, kill eight American border patrol agents and kidnap two others. Then the Mexican military announces they have set up thousands of missiles that could blast American cities. Is the American government going to allow that? Of course not. Remember the Cuban missile crisis?

But the pope, Chirac and the others don’t seem to care about the Hezbollah missiles or the fact that the U.N. can’t get the terror situation under control.

Hezbollah keeps getting stronger because Syria and Iran give the terror group millions of dollars and all the weapons they want.

“Talking Points” is big on simplicity. Who does the cease-fire help? It helps the terrorists, the people who started the latest conflict.

Now if some kind of deal could be made where Hezbollah pulls out of southern Lebanon and gives up its illegal missiles, I say make that deal in a heartbeat. But it’s amazing how many people simply will not realize that Hezbollah, Hamas and other terror groups want to kill Jews. They don’t want peace.

So over the next few days, you’ll be hearing a lot of debate, a lot of hand ringing, a lot of pleas. Just keep in mind one vital truth, just one. Only people who want peace can secure peace.

And that’s “The Memo.”

O’Reilly is right on. The biggest problem in the Mid East is the Un Civilized population of Syria, Iran, Hammas and Hez. are, have always been, and never will, be “Civilized”
They have been fighting the “Holy Wars” for as long as time and will never stop. They teach their little children to “Hate, Kill, and spread their form of religion throughout the entire world. They teach their kids to “Kill the Unbeliever’s” and make no excuses or reason for it.

It appears the only hope for a long lasting peace is to totally annihilation the entire population of terrorist and start new with “Civilization Training”. A task that will take centuries. And, If it takes Nukes to do it, then, by all means “Do It.

    Bad analogy:

Some Mexican soldiers cross the border tomorrow, kill eight American border patrol agents and kidnap two others. Then the Mexican military announces they have set up thousands of missiles that could blast American cities. Is the American government going to allow that?

A better analogy, if you must use South America, is that drug warlords attack border patrol or DEA agents and kidnap two others. Then the warlord’s militias attack America by planting bombs or hijacking airlines (this starting to sound familiar?).

Why is this a better analogy? Because the Lebanese government didn’t attack Israel, a rouge group not under their control attacked Israel.

Now the question: Is the American government going to allow that? The Answer: Yes, we did allow that.

    Herb,
Perhaps you aren’t a history guy, so I can forgive you your misconceptions. The fact is, throughout a large part of Christian history, the Muslims WERE the civilized society. They were the ones that allowed other religions to co-exist. They were the leaders in science, mathematics and philosophy. Now jumping back into the present, the majority of recent conflict in the middle east has in fact NOT been religious. It has been mostly ethnic or nationalist if anything. The Iran-Iraq war? Ethnic! Syria’s (and formerly Iraq’s) ruling Baath party? Secular! Hamas and Hezbollah were both established as resistance movements to foreign occupation within their native land.

So, perhaps before you go proposing genocide that would make the Holocaust look minor, perhaps you should take the time to understand who and what you are actually talking about. Or, you can just stop posting crap. Either way would improve this site.

    Miahael:

Your words make one wonder what side you are on, GWOT or terrorist. I guess it’s OK with you that terrorist groups killed 3000 innocent Americans, and I guess it’s OK with you that terrorist torture, behead and mutilate our troops and I guess it’s OK with you that terrorists kill hundreds of ordinary innocent working
people in London, Madrid and Maumbi.
Your words betray you Michale, everyone can see where you are coming from. You are but one more left wing liberal that, like Chamberlain thought that appeasement was the answer and gave everything away in order to satisfy you pacifist, chicken hearted way of life that so many sacrificed to preserve. Why, I just don’t know and with your mentality, you don’t either.

You give me a line about the Muslims being civilized. Well, then WHY do they “torture, behead, and mutilate their prisoners, and WHY do they Kill Innocent people who done nothing to them. And they do it in the name of Allah and their un civilized religion. Yes Michale, tell everyone “How civilized they are”

You talk about Genocide, Then just what in the hell do you think they are planning for us, right here in the USA.

One can only conclude that you are either “Just Plain Stupid” or “A supporter of Terrorism and its agenda”.

    Herb,

My but you have quite a vivid imagination. I must have read through my post 5 times before posting it, and again now just to make sure, and I still can’t find where I said I was OK “that terrorist groups killed 3000 innocent Americans”, or “that terrorist torture, behead and mutilate our troops” or even “that terrorists kill hundreds of ordinary innocent working people in London, Madrid and Maumbi”. But that isn’t even all you seem to have projected into my post. Let me iterate through them all:

1.) “Your words make one wonder what side you are on, GWOT or terrorist”, I challenge you to find anything I have ever said on any topic that could possibly make you question my loyalties. Seriously, find just one. You seem to be the only one confused about my position.

2.) “You are but one more left wing liberal that, like Chamberlain thought that appeasement was the answer and gave everything away in order to satisfy you pacifist, chicken hearted way of life”, again I challenge you to find an instance of me advocating appeasement or pacifism. In fact, just yesterday on a separate topic I advocated a much larger military action by Israel. But you are the one who likes false dichotomies, so you probably think anything less than nuclear genocide is pacifism. Perhaps you should read a dictionary before you read a history book, it may help.

3.) “You give me a line about the Muslims being civilized. Well, then WHY do they torture, behead, and mutilate their prisoners, and WHY do they Kill Innocent people who done nothing to them.”, the same question could be put to our actions over there. We have acknowledged our role in the torture, mutilation, and death of our prisoners, and are investigating instances of the intentional killing of innocent people. Your own words call American soldiers “Uncivilized”, perhaps it’s your loyalty we should be questioning.

4.) “Yes Michale(sic), tell everyone How civilized they are”, I seem to remember (and so does this site if you don’t trust my memory) talking about how civilized they “were”, not “are”. I hope I don’t have to explain the difference. Yes, Arab nations today have fallen from their glory days, mostly as a result of internal warring and outside oppression.

5.) “You talk about Genocide, Then just what in the hell do you think they are planning for us, right here in the USA.”, I can only assume that you aren’t suggesting that we have to become terrorists to defeat terrorists. We didn’t have to become fascists to defeat fascism, nor communists to defeat communism. There was a time in American history where we were proud of the fact that we were better than our enemies, that we didn’t commit the crimes the committed. Why are you now ashamed of America?

  6. Herb says:

    Michael:

Are you taking lessons from Ken and Anderson ?

  7. Michael says:

I don’t know who either Ken or Anderson are. Now, stop circumventing the issue and respond to the content of my posts.

  8. Herb says:

    Michael:

Neither of most anyone has time or wants to make the effort to respond to a “Book Length” comment from you. Do you think it possible for you to think and comment in a reasonable gathering of words to reply to.

In reply to a little of your comment Michael, You can not win an ally fight using goody two shoes tactics. You had best be as dirty as the enemy to defeat him. But, I guess that’s beyond your comprehension. Guys like you will always lose and live your remaining lives in total slavery to your enemies. You can have it for all I care, but don’t ever think for one second that I want to be like the pacifist you are.

  9. Michael says:

I’m sorry Herb, are a few paragraphs too much heavy reading for you? Perhaps I should use small words and draw you pictures too, would that help?

That does explain how you can be so ignorant about so many things, just got no time to read and educate yourself.
