New Gig

I’m starting a new chapter in my professional career this morning, having been hired as the managing editor for the Atlantic Council of the United States. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be working with CEO Fred Kempe and the senior leadership of the Council in relaunching their Web presence. I’m excited about the opportunity to help make acus.org the go-to destination for news and analysis on the Atlantic alliance.

I’ll be busy in the next few weeks, getting acclimated to the new job and new schedule. My intention is to get more content up early in the morning, do some pre-posting of less time sensitive pieces, and to get quick posts in when I can.

In the longer run, the opportunities created by being with a premiere think tank, working with talented, plugged-in people, and networking with the D.C. foreign policy community will be invaluable and hopefully that’ll energize my analysis here.

It should go without saying but any views expressed here are my own and do not necessarily reflect those of the Atlantic Council, its leadership, or pretty much anyone other than me.

Congrats on the new gig. Question:

"In the longer run, the opportunities created by being with a premiere think think tank"

Are think think tanks more gooder than a run of the mill think tank??.

    ;)

I know how you feel James. I often feel when hosting my views on my blog that my opinions are exclusively my own and shared by no one else but me.

Good luck with the new gig. I enjoy your stuff here and hope it continues here as well.

( MarkM, he's practicing something called double-think. It's what intellectuals do. Us peons just double-speak before double-thinking. )

Congratulations. Think tanks always raise red flags with me but it's not Heritage. :)

It's nice that you sound excited about the work. Good luck.

    Thanks, all.

Fixed the double think issue. That's what I get for writing posts during late night Cowboys games.

Congratulations, James. You were one of the people on my short list of "bloggers who should be hired immediately". You'll do great, and I look forward to seeing it.

Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Congratulations on the ascension to think tankery (think tankhood?), James. I hope it doesn't cut into your posting too much, as there's a little thing called an election coming up, and I'm afraid my non-voting decision will be less informed without your sober commentary.

I think I'll have plenty of time for election blogging. Indeed, as things develop with the ACUS site, I'll likely be doing mostly domestic affairs blogging at OTB.

Massive congrats, James. I hope the ACUS realizes what a great catch it has made.
