This, an ad from some group calling itself The Agenda Project, is what American politics has come to:

This is considered a rational debate on fiscal policy in this country. Pretty damn sad.

  1. Tano says:

I guess the difference between the parties is that “The Agenda Project” was not given the Democratic party’s nomination to be Vice President.

    – Citation needed.

  3. michael reynolds says:

The old lady had it coming.

  4. Ben says:

Of course it’s hyperbolic and ridiculous. And no more of either than the “death panel” hysteria that was going on 2 years ago.

This. If there were aggressive heckling of Ryan’s plan at town meetings after this commercial (and not before as has been the case), then an equivalence between this ad and “death panels” would be proper.

  6. ken says:

I think the ad is funny and makes an appropriate point about the cruelty of conservatives.

Killing grandma is not a big step once you’ve already accepted torture as a legitimate policy.

  7. anjin-san says:

Ken… you dare to question the use of torture? America must torture! This is a fact, not a discussion! That is all…

  9. Neil Hudelson says:

The old woman was probably just his mother-in-law. Can anyone really blame him for his actions now?

  10. Have a nice G.A. says:

I can think of a good commercial to make with a certain politician tossing his grandma under a bus.

  11. sam says:

You know, GA, someone like you — convicted felon, sick, not much education, very few prospects — ought to be more supportive of government-provided medical care. Because absent that care, you’d probably die facedown in the street.

    lol…

  13. Holy crap… I’m not sure I’ve laughed at something politically related in… as long as I can remember. Demagoguery indeed… of the year.

  14. Tano says:

The people in the country are “two” stupid to know…

    how to spell “too” ???

  15. James H says:

Wait … I thought Grandma got run over by a reindeer.

  16. Dave says:

What I see in this commercial is a Government Agent cutting 590 billion out of medicare to use else were in a different program. And mandatory death consoling for seniors. These and more have already passed and it wasn’t Ryan who pass them.
His plan is a proposal to save medicare and points in a proposal are negotiable. Those who want the same results would be willing to negotiate and offer alternative points or proposals. Those who don’t want to save medicare will only point fingers.
