Putin Warns Against Arming Flesh Eating Syrian Rebels

Russian President Vladimir Putin has some rather unique concerns about the President’s apparent decision to arm the Syrian rebels:

(Reuters) – Russian President Vladimir Putin, arriving in Britain ahead of an international summit set to be dominated by disagreement over the U.S. decision to send weapons to Syria’s rebels, said the West must not arm fighters who eat human flesh.

After meeting Cameron in London, Putin said Russia wanted to create the conditions for a resolution of the conflict.

“One does not really need to support the people who not only kill their enemies, but open up their bodies, eat their intestines in front of the public and cameras,” Putin said.

“Are these the people you want to support? Are they the ones you want to supply with weapons? Then this probably has little relation to the humanitarian values preached in Europe for hundreds of years.”

So what is Putin referring to here? Has he seen an advance screening of World War Z? Or, perhaps, been reading some of Daniel Drezner’s work? No, he’s referring to something that apparently actually happened:

He was referring to a widely circulated video that allegedly showed a rebel fighter eating the heart of a dead soldier. The video, posted by a group loyal to the Syrian government, raised questions about the rebels’ credibility, even though the Syrian opposition widely condemned the act.

Or maybe there really are zombies fighting in Syria.

For once, I agree with Sarah Palin: Just let Allah sort this out. In fact, we both know that Allah isn’t real, so I guess I agree with her twice.

Whether or not we think Iran is an important strategic asset, Russia certainly does, which is why they are doubling down on the rhetoric. On the Sunni side, Morsi has called for jihad against Assad. Doesn’t seem like anybody is talking peace.
The problem isn’t that Allah is going to sort them out. The problem is that the sorters will likely be Iran and Russia.

Questions to ponder while waiting for the end of this; Who is going to win this fight, Those fighting on the side of Allah or Those fighting for Allah? I just can’t tell whose side Allah is on….

    But I have a feeling it ain’t Russia’s.

I think it is important that we find the western-leaning flesh eating zombies, and support them.

  6. Rob in CT says:

Hey, Vlad. They may be flesh-easting zombies, but they’re OUR flesh eating zombies.

More interesting than “our bastard” don’t you agree?

@OzarkHillbilly: It’s kind of like going to a high school football game in Texas. No matter who wins, they know with 100% certainty that God granted them the win.
