An alleged peeping Tom remains in the intensive care unit after reportedly being assaulted with a tree branch, NewsChannel5 reported. Officials said Mario Russo, 44, was attacked after he was spotted outside a bedroom window wearing his pants around his ankles and watching a 5-year-old girl who was sleeping outside the Bunker Ridge Apartments. Russo was reportedly hiding in bushes.
Police said after he was discovered a group of six people, include the girl’s mother, aunt and their boyfriends attacked him and brutally beat him for more than an hour. The girl’s mother, Stacy Umstott, 28; her aunt, Athena Lemieux, 20; Brandon Breedon, 21; Nicholas Phipps, 21; and Khald Arafat, 34; and a 15-year-old are in police custody. They face felonious assault and rape charges. Murder charges could be filed if Russo dies.
The girl’s aunt admitted to sexually assaulting Russo with a tree branch, police said. The incident was caught on tape.
Meanwhile, police said that citizens should not take matters into their own hands
“To take matters into their own hands like they did was just way, way beyond reason,” North Royalton Detective Jay Drake said.
Well, they certainly got their point across. Still, while it’s hard to find much sympathy for a pervert who enjoys gratifying himself to the image of toddlers, it appears that the mob-administered justice exceeded the initial (alleged) crime.
More than anything else, it speaks to me of a lack of ability of the Police to live up to heir name.
For those who don’t know what I’m talking about, the word Police is from the french word, which translates literally to “the power of the people”.
Clearly the perception was that the appointed police couldn’t deal with it, and so the pepole took their power back.
Sexually asssaulting someone with a tree branch? Ouch.

Sweet, sweet justice. It’s unfortunate he survived the beating, as now we the tax payers will have to pay for a trial to determine if he was actually guilty. As if there is any question of his obvious guilt. Instead of citizen arrests, we should have citizen convictions.
I’m sure liberals will cry that he needs universal health care too…
Quite aside from the serious, ugly situation, this sentence doesn’t make sense:

Was the girl sleeping outside the apartments? If so, why was Russo next to the bedroom window?
More than an hour, and raping him with a tree branch? I think roughing him up would have gotten the point across.
What a load. Next we’ll have to endure a bunch of comments about how people are “innocent until proven guilty.” He was there. He was guilty. He got a beat down. Get over it Attila Girl. It’s a brave new world.
And bryan, we don’t need to know anything more than his pants were down. Done deal at that point. Nothing more needs to be known.
Pat, my comment was aimed at the writer of the sentence. It’s poor grammar, quite apart from the sick nature of what happened. I should note that when I clicked on the Yahoo link, the entire story had been basically rewritten to include the fact that the girl was sleeping in one of the apartment units.
I wonder if the aunt will be charged with sexual assault based on the videotaped evidence?
That was my grandaughter this guy was pleasuring himself to, if I would have caught him I would have have used his penis to stick up his ass!!!!
I am friends with Stacy and Athena. I know that Stacy is a very good mother and loved her daughter very much. That man deserved everything he got. What would you do???
