CPAC is Boring
Commenting on Google Reader, longtime social conservative blogger Joe Carter echoes my sentiments:
The untold story is that CPAC is terribly boring. The only reason to ever go is to chat with people that you only know online. Other than that its a huge waste of time.
Of course it’s boring: it’s full of conservatives.
That’s pretty much the reason I’m going: To meet people IRL I only know online as yet.
Thanks for the mention, James. But I’m no longer with Family Research Council. I left there in 2008 and not work for First Things magazine.
Sounds like you guys should get all your online friends to agree to a better conference. Something in Vegas, maybe.
Michael: I’m guessing the liberal equivalent would be just as boring to a 45-year old wonk who’s been hearing the same stuff for decades.
Herb: Sounds like a good idea! A little more expensive than heading across town for me, but not for others.
